Private psychiatric clinics in India
Extend the visit into the rest of the week.
Digital Wellness Academy is the optional education layer in The Autonomous Clinic, Mike Sullivan's Kindle book, published 28 October 2026. A private clinic can assign skills between sessions, see what the patient practiced, and keep a safety check on written input. The curriculum is English. The crisis line and the data duties have to be Indian.
Why the gap is structural
A 2024 narrative review in Mental Health in a Changing World, drawing on the National Mental Health Survey, puts India's mental health treatment gap near 84.5% and psychiatrist density near 0.3 per 100,000 people. The public Silent Pandemic whitepaper states the global pattern this sits inside: only 1 in 8 people with a mental disorder receive any care, and two-thirds of countries have one psychiatrist per 200,000 people.
That math is why a clinic cannot close the week by adding appointments. The hours between visits are where skills either get practiced or dropped. The platform is built for that gap, under the clinician who already has the relationship.
What a clinic actually gets
- 964 lessons across 81 courses, in English, assigned to a patient's plan.
- 22 assessments, including PHQ-9 and GAD-7, scored for the next session.
- A provider view of what changed since the last visit.
- MAIA, a distress check on covered text, fail-closed if the checker is down. English is the live safety bar. Spanish and Portuguese are still in clinical review.
What this page will not claim
Chapter 11 of the book is plain: blended care, therapy plus an app between sessions, does not have consistent evidence of better symptom outcomes than therapy alone. The useful claim is narrower. Structured practice between visits gives the clinician a record of what the patient did, and a safety check on written distress. It is not a promise that the app shortens treatment.
The buyer here is a private or hospital clinic that already sees patients. The whitepaper's figure of $0.04 per person in low-income public systems is a need story. It is not a sales target for this license.
Chapter 17 of the book is about US multi-state licensing. It is not an India market chapter. This page is the country note. The book is the operating model.
Crisis line and data, for India
Show Tele-MANAS, 14416, the national line. Confirm the clinic's city lines before go-live. Do not show the US 988 line on an India deployment.
Patient data follows India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, plus the clinic's own notice and consent. A US HIPAA business associate agreement is the wrong headline for this buyer. HIPAA remains the frame for a US practice handling US protected health information.
WhatsApp is how many Indian clinics already message patients. Chapter 5 of the book separates two US setups: Meta-direct WhatsApp, which has no US business associate agreement, and a covered intermediary that does. That US rule does not travel as a ban. The question that does travel is whether the clinic can say, in writing, which system holds clinical messages and who can read them.
A pilot is one clinic, not a country launch.
Tell us the city, the languages your clinicians use with patients, and whether you want between-session education, owned demand, or both. Owned demand in India starts from Practo, Lybrate, and Google, not from a US directory. The book calls that the directory trap. The directory changes. The lesson does not.
